Bible Quizzing is a fun and unique method of Bible study that combines several study techniques and then once a month brings
teens together to quiz at a tournament.
At tournaments, churches send teams made of 3-5 quizzers for each team. They then quiz for several rounds of 20 questions each. The first one to jump gets to answer the question. If they answer correctly, they earn points. If they get it wrong, then the other team can try to answer. If they disagree with the ruling of the quizmaster, they can make a challenge. Each tournament covers specific chapters from the Book of John. By the end of the season, the whole Book of John is covered.
It is a great time to make friends from other churches and with other homeschoolers in our area. Sometimes they earn team and individual awards. Teams can qualify to go to regional and national levels too.
Bible quizzing encourages a devotion for God’s Word with lifelong skills and habits of Bible study. We quiz in the Nazarene league, but our teams are primarily made up of homeschool students. Some families have been doing quizzing for multiple generations. The competitive aspect is mainly a motivator to encourage deeper Bible study. Winning is fun, but it is more important to develop good character, sportsmanship, support each other, and to hide God’s truths in our hearts.
